Personal Knowledge Mastery with Harold Jarche
Harold Jarche created the Personal Knowledge Mastery framework back in 2004. It is based on knowledge management but Harold calls it Personal Knowledge Mastery (PKM) because he believes it to be “a discipline to be mastered”.
The PKM framework “is focused on developing diverse sources of information and knowledge, especially human connections, and finding ways to make sense of our experiences and try new things out“. Despite being 15 years old, Harold sees its value increase every year “as more people realize that they are only as effective as their knowledge networks“.
A graduate of the Royal Military College, Harold served over 20 years with the Canadian Armed Forces in leadership and training roles. In 2003, Harold launched his independent consulting practice and now works with individuals, organisations, and public policy influencers to develop practical ways to improve collaboration, knowledge sharing, and sensemaking.
Harold has been described as “a keen subversive of the last century’s management and education models” and his blog as “a beacon of light in the dark landscape of organizational learning”.
At Social Now 2020, Harold Jarche will show how Cablinc can develop Personal Knowledge Mastery and create a learning-friendly environment to boost the personal development of its people. He will also demonstrate how teams, communities and networks are key to PKM and while simultaneously benefiting from it.
