Biography
Joana started her career as a journalist, and communication has always been her passion. In fact, she believes it can help solve most of life’s problems. After one year working as a freelancer and writing mostly on culture, she decided to take a Masters in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies, and it was only after that that Joana joined Sogrape, Portugal’s leading and most renowned wine company, as Press Relations.
13 years later, she remains in the company that produces the famous Mateus Rose, heading the Group’s PR and Communications department.
Having started in Portugal, back in 1942, but now spread through 10 countries with more than 1.000 employees, internal communications at Sogrape is one of the company’s biggest challenges. In that context, last year Joana led a multidisciplinary team to launch the Group’s first global platform. In only 6 months, WINet was launched, strongly contributing to the development of a more transparent and collaborative culture.
